The ride was held June 19, 2010 on a warm, but drizzly night. Remember, it’s Alaska, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear. 10:30 PM Registration 11:42 PM Ride The ride starts at sunset, 11:42 PM, from the buker at Kincaid Park. Riders will be leave in waves of about two minutes, so be patient; it’s for your safety. We don’t need any pileups at the bottom of the first hill. You must wear a helmet to participate (bike lights are recommended). Registration: $25/person until June 12 (after that it’s $35), which includes Solstice Midnight Sun Ride T-shirt and REI water bottle. Supplies are limited, so register now! The Route Start the Solstice Midnight Sun Ride overlooking Fire Island at the chalet in Kincaid Park. Zip down the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, enjoying the last rays of sunset and first light of sunrise as you pedal past Pt. Woronzof, through Earthquake Park, finally arriving at Town Square Park an hour after you started, invigorated by your ride and ready to embrace another Alaskan summer. Parking and Directions Riders are solely responsible for getting their bikes to the start at the Kincaid Chalet and getting home from downtown at the end of the ride. Kincaid Park will close at 11:00 PM on June 19. The Municipality of Anchorage, event organizers, volunteers, sponsors and affiliates are not responsible for the safety of any vehicles or those remaining in the park after it closes. Vehicles left overnight in the park are at the owners’ risk and may be picked up on June 20 after 10 AM. General Information
Check-in at the bunker in Kincaid Park. Pick up your goodie bag and you’re ready to go. For those wearing costumes, please indicate your desire to enter the costume contest at check-in. Judging will take place at 11:15 PM.
